A Vicious Proposal (The Fallen Kings of Eden) by Kristy Marie (non spoiler review)

Date Started: January 17th 2024
Date Finished: January 25th 2024

Characters: Reese & Van

Rating: 6 🌟 s

Sensitive Themes:
foul language, mention of past abuse, alleged rape, parental death and descriptive sexual encounters.

Review:
Kristy Marie pushed the envelope with this one and I got to say that this is the best one she has written so far even though I am always saying that with every new book of hers that gets released, but this one really is amazing x10 (move over Tim becase Van Gogh just took your spot 🤪). So if you love dark characters especially psycho ones then I highly recommend reading this book. And by the way, I have to say that this is my first 6 star read of 2024 so far, hopefully by the end of the year this will still be one of my favorite books of the year.

Know More About This Book:

Synopsis:

I knew him only as Van Gogh.
A tortured artist who owned the night as he moved through the shadows, cloaked in hate and madness.
He was a vicious vigilante—a serial arsonist who thrived on the fear he triggered with a single match between his tattooed knuckles.
We were told to lock our doors and stay inside.
I wanted to. I really did.
But then I saw his eyes, burning like embers as he watched me through the smoke.
And like the flames at his feet, I delighted in his attention.
I became his muse.
His passion.
His obsession.
His perfectly flawed flower.
But that was years ago.
Before my seaside town became his canvas…
Before the ashes of my enemies became his paint…
Before he hated me… and made me his wife.

Stolen by the Boss (Taken #4) by Logan Chance (non spoiler review)

Date Started: November 26th 2023
Date Finished: December 2nd 2023

Characters: Dean & Sophia

Rating: 6 🌟s

Synopsis:
As the boss of one of the largest security companies, Dean Madddox doesn’t make mistakes. But he’s made a big one today, he’s kidnapped the wrong girl.

Dean’s after Mia, daughter to the top mob boss in the country. He needs to abduct her to keep her safe. However, he has no idea I’ve taken her place. What starts out as a case of mistaken identities turns into us working together to catch a mutual enemy.

Now we’re after one of the biggest crime lords in the world.
We have to pretend to be married and infiltrate the nightlife of our adversary. We’re thrown into a life of wickedly naughty parties where no one judges your dirty desires.

It’s completely out of my element, but we can’t blow our cover.
My first night at the club Dean sticks close, his deep voice whispering in my ear everything will be ok makes me open up to try new things.
Filthy things.
Things that make me blush.

It all feels a bit too real.
His rough hands.
His rock-hard body.
His gray eyes turning me on when he watches me.
Now every night we have to play the part.
But his touches don’t feel like he’s pretending.
The way he kisses my overheated skin doesn’t feel fake.
How far can we take this before we find ourselves completely falling for each other?

When push comes to shove will Dean be the one to help me find justice, or will he cost me everything?

Review:
Triggers: Sex Trafficking (mentioned/described) & Attempted Rape (on page).

On to my review: The reason I gave this book 6 stars instead of the normal 5 that I usually give is because it kept me engaged throughout and the MCs Dean & Sophia’s interractions in the beginning is that they don’t trust each other but throughout the story that enemies to lovers thing between them goes out the window once they start trusting one another and work together to bring down Bishop and his operation and by the end which made me cry happy tears by the way finalizes me into loving the story so hard. If you’re looking for a book that has you intrigues you from page one then give it a try. Also I want to mention this was my first book by this author and I hope to read more of his backlog as well as his future releases. So you can tell I’m a big fan since giving one of his books a chance and I’m so glad that this was the first book that introduced me to his writing.

Dorian

“I was a God back then. Untouchable. Consequences didn’t apply to me. It was my right to do whatever I wanted—I never thought it would eventually cost me the one woman I’d ever fallen in love with.”

I should’ve just told her everything from day one.

Not that it would have mattered. I always knew it’d be too much.

That the dirt of my past would ruin us.

I can’t blame her for leaving me. For the pain everything caused her.

If I were a nice guy, I’d let her go.

Maybe I’m an evil bastard, but whatever the fuck it takes, that woman will return to me.

Demitra

“You think you know someone’s reputation—then you find out it’s so much dirtier than you imagined.”

My soul is addicted. Living without him is impossible.

Five months of having him and it feels like I’ve never lived without him at all.

Now, I’ll have to learn. Will have to rip him out of my being.

Or I can choose to suffer through the struggle.

To fight.

To accept the pain in order to keep him.

To go up against everyone standing in our way.

Including my own father.

Review: This book is the conclusion to Dorian and Demi’s story in the Allure series and I gotta say, these character wrung me through the ringer in this final book. So many twists and turns had me wondering if Dorian and Demi were ever going to make it and boy did it drive me crazy until the end? Yes it did, but I’m so happy that they got their happily ever after in the end. I highly recommend this whole series to anyone whose looking for a twisty dark erotic taboo romance then look no further than the Allure series.

Neon Gods (Dark Olympus #1) by Katee Robert (non spoiler review)

Date Started: July 1st 2022
Date Finished: July 9th 2022

Characters: Hades & Persephone

Rating: 5 🌟s

Synopsis:

He was supposed to be a myth.
But from the moment I crossed the River Styx and fell under his dark spell… he was, quite simply, mine.

Society darling Persephone Dimitriou plans to flee the ultra-modern city of Olympus and start over far from the backstabbing politics of the Thirteen Houses. But all that’s ripped away when her mother ambushes her with an engagement to Zeus, the dangerous power behind their glittering city’s dark facade.

With no options left, Persephone flees to the forbidden undercity and makes a devil’s bargain with a man she once believed a myth… a man who awakens her to a world she never knew existed.

Hades has spent his life in the shadows, and he has no intention of stepping into the light. But when he finds that Persephone can offer a little slice of the revenge he’s spent years craving, it’s all the excuse he needs to help her—for a price. Yet every breathless night spent tangled together has given Hades a taste for Persephone, and he’ll go to war with Olympus itself to keep her close…

A modern retelling of Hades and Persephone that’s as sinful as it is sweet.

Review: This was my first time reading Katee Robert and I must say, the plot of Hades and Persephone’s dark love story was absolutely perfect and the smut was super hot throughout the book, but I personally loved how they liked to protect one another at costs. Highly recommend this author if you haven’t read anything by her yet and not to mention, I seriously cannot wait to read more from her in the future.

Stroke of Midnight (Cinderella Trilogy # 1) by K Webster (non spoiler review)

Date Started: June 1st 2022
Date Finished: June 6th 2022

Characters: Ash & Winston

Rating: 5 🌟s

Synopsis:
From USA Today bestselling author K Webster comes a brand new forbidden romance that’s going to leave you speechless.

Money can buy anything. And anyone.
As the head of the Constantine family, I’m used to people bowing to my will. Cruel, rigid, unyielding—I’m all those things.
When I discover the one woman who doesn’t wither under my gaze, but instead smiles right back at me, I’m intrigued. Ash Elliott needs cash, and I make her trade in crudeness and degradation for it.
I crave her tears, her moans, her submission. I pay for each one. And every time, she comes back for more.
When she challenges me with an offer of her own, I have to decide if I’m willing to give her far more than cold hard cash. But love can have deadly consequences when it comes from a Constantine. At the stroke of midnight, that choice may be lost for both of us.

Review:
Triggers: Sexual Assault by family member & playful degrading from male hero as well as horrible degrading by a family member.

This was my first introduction into K Webster’s writing and I thought this book was in my opinion a really good dark retelling of the children’s book Cinderella and I absolutely loved how protective Winston was of Ash even though the agreement was for her to get paid doing random if not weird things for money but as the story progresses, it becomes more than that which is also another reason I liked this book and the cliffhanger left me wanting more of their story and it’s a good thing that there are two more books left of this trilogy to still read.
Will I read more of this trilogy? Absolutely.
But will I read more books of K Webster in the future? Most definitely. But before I go, I just want to say that you seriously need to start this book today because it was just that freaking good of a dark romance.

Twisted Rage (Seige Series #2) by N. Isabelle Blanco (non spoiler review)

Date Started: May 23rd 2022
Date Finished: May 27th 2022

Characters: Andrew & Lexi

Rating: 5 🌟s

Synopsis:

The conclusion to the Dark Romance Siege Series!

This isn’t how our story ends.
No. This murder we’ve just committed?
This is how our story truly begins . . .

I told myself I was going to save her.

I didn’t realize what a lie that was.

This neurosis has sunk in too deep. All it took was one glimpse of another man inside her for the beast that murdered Barnard to finish consuming me.

I’ve turned her into killer.

Just like me.

With every corroded, toxicity-infested sin laid bare between us, all that’s left is revenge.

And the chasm of diabolical need that tethers us.

A need to consume each other.
A need to make our enemies pay.
They stole seven years from us. Every ounce of sanity we had left.
Now, we’re going to steal everything from them.

Most of all, we won’t stop until every single one of them is dead.

I told myself I was going to save Lexi . . . in reality, I’ve finished ruining her.

And she would have it no other way.

Warning: this series is not for everyone. As the story progresses, dark themes are explored that might be a trigger for some. Please read at your own discretion. Definitely 18+.

Review:
Triggers: Mention of rape, drug usuage, Alcohol addiction & Suicidal thoughts and attempts and a mention of incesturous of a side character’s past.

Twisted Rage picks off where book 1 Twisted Heartbreak ended off and I gotta say the revenge plot of this book was dark amongst other things and you get in vivid detail of what Happened to Lexi about seven years ago so if you can’t handle the rape trigger then don’t start this duet, but if you’re okay with it then I highly recoomend you start this series right away. Before I go I just want to say that this book brings Andrew and Lexi even closer to one another in ways not many people would be okay with but nonetheless it was still a pleasurable to read if you like dark romances that are really dark in nature. And if you decide to give this duet a try then by all means get it now…

King of Spades by Alta Hensley (Wonderland Trilogy #1) (non spoiler review)

Date Finished: May 20th 2022

Characters: Nick & Lyriope

Rating: 5 🌟s

Synopsis:

Nick Hudson has a dangerous reputation.

That’s what I need if I’m going to survive.

Desperation makes me seek out a ruthlessly powerful billionaire.

I need protection.

He demands my virtue as payment.

I’m falling into a world of luxury and sin.

With every twist and turn, I need more.

Except this is not a man to love.

This is a man to fear.

His obsession grows. So does the threat, until I’m trapped in a world of depravity. I’ll need more than Nick’s strength to survive. I’m going to need his heart.

Review:
This is a dark retelling of Alice in Wonderland. It’s also my first book by this author as well and I gotta say, this was such a dark, but fun read. I loved Lyriope and Nick dynamic from the banter to the sexy times. And it leaves on a cliffhanger so I can’t wait to see what happens in Queen of Hearts coming July 5th.

The Reluctant Bride (Arranged Marriage #1) by Monica Murphy (non spoiler review)

Date Started: May 13th 2022
Date Finished: May 17th 2022

Characters: Charlotte & Perry

Rating: 5 🌟s

Synopsis:
One moment I’m the forgotten daughter of one of the most wealthy families in the country, and the next I’m the blushing bride in an arranged marriage. My fate is sealed in my wedded union with a complete stranger.

In public, Perry Constantine is the life of the party. Easygoing. Adored. In private, he’s brooding. Dark. Angry. But so am I. It’s a contest of wills to see who will break in the bedroom first, and while I try to remain strong, I find myself craving the very man I swore to hate.

My husband.

Review: (Triggers: Emotional & Physical abuse by a parent.)

What can I tell you about this book other than it was everything in a dark romance that I love. I loved everything about Perry and Charolette’s relationship even though it started out with a enemies to lovers trope, but by the end besides the cliffhanger that we’re left on which will continue in The Ruthless Groom when it releases on June 14th, it was the most fascinating read of my life and that’s saying something about my reading tastes. Also I loved the arranged marriage part because I’ve never read this trope in my life and that was a good place to start in my opinion. And before I go, I just wanna say that this has the trigger of abuse by a parent, so if you have had this done to you then don’t read it, but if you’re okay with this sort of trigger then at least now you know to proceed with caution. Highly recommend if you’re okay with dark elements in your books.
