Review:
I finished this and what a great way to start off where A Light in the Flame left off on a cliffhanger. The journey the characters are still going on, keeps me continuing on with the Blood and Ash/Flesh and Fire world and I cannot wait for the last book in this series to come our. It also continues to make me cry, laugh and feel anger at the main characters as well as the side characters actions, But like I said I love it so very much. Highly recommend both series if you want to either continue or start them.

Know More About This Book:

Synopsis:

The only thing that can save the realms now is the one thing more powerful than the Fates.
After a startling betrayal ends with both Sera and the dangerously seductive ruler of the Shadowlands she has fallen madly in love with being held captive by the false King of the Gods, there is only one thing that can free Nyktos and prevent the forces of the Shadowlands from invading Dalos and igniting a War of Primals.

Convincing Kolis won’t be easy, though – not even with a lifetime of training. While his most favored Revenant is insistent that she is nothing more than a lie, Kolis’s erratic nature and twisted sense of honor leave her shaken to the core, and nothing could’ve prepared her for the cruelty of his Court or the shocking truths revealed. The revelations not only upend what she has understood about her duty and the very creation of the realms but also draw into question exactly what the true threat is. However, surviving Kolis is only one part of the battle. The Ascension is upon her, and Sera is out of time.

But Nyktos will do anything to keep Sera alive and give her the life she deserves. He’ll even risk the utter destruction of the realms, and that’s exactly what will happen if he doesn’t Ascend as the Primal of Life. Yet despite his desperate determination, their destinies may be out of their hands.

But there is that foreseen unexpected thread—the unpredictable, unknown, and unwritten. The only thing more powerful than the Fates…

Review:
I loved being back in this world with Sera and Nyktos and once again according to my rating this was yet another favorite of mine. I loved the action, the emotion and the love between these two main characters along with their court and that cliffy was something else. I seriously cannot wait to start book 3 A Fire in the Flesh to see how it continues on.

Know More About This Book:

Synopsis:

The only one who can save Sera now is the one she spent her life planning to kill.

The truth about Sera’s plan is out, shattering the fragile trust forged between her and Nyktos. Surrounded by those distrustful of her, all Sera has is her duty. She will do anything to end Kolis, the false King of Gods, and his tyrannical rule of Iliseeum, thus stopping the threat he poses to the mortal realm.

Nyktos has a plan, though, and as they work together, the last thing they need is the undeniable, scorching passion that continues to ignite between them. Sera cannot afford to fall for the tortured Primal, not when a life no longer bound to a destiny she never wanted is more attainable than ever. But memories of their shared pleasure and unrivaled desire are a siren’s call impossible to resist.

And as Sera begins to realize that she wants to be more than a Consort in name only, the danger surrounding them intensifies. The attacks on the Shadowlands are increasing, and when Kolis summons them to Court, a whole new risk becomes apparent. The Primal power of Life is growing inside her, pushing her closer to the end of her Culling. And without Nyktos’s love—an emotion he’s incapable of feeling—she won’t survive her Ascension. That is if she even makes it to her Ascension and Kolis doesn’t get to her first. Because time is running out. For both her and the realms.

A Soul of Ash and Blood (Blood & Ash #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout (non spoiler review)

Date Started: August 21st 2023
Date Finished: August 27th 2023

Characters: Poppy & Casteel

Rating: 6 🌟 s

Synopsis:
Only his memories can save her…

A great primal power has risen. The Queen of Flesh and Fire has become the Primal of Blood and Bone—the true Primal of Life and Death. And the battle Casteel, Poppy, and their allies have been fighting has only just begun. Gods are awakening across Iliseeum and the mortal realm, readying for the war to come.

But when Poppy falls into stasis, Cas faces the very real possibility that the dire, unexpected consequences of what she is becoming could take her away from him. Cas is given some advice, though—something he plans to cling to as he waits to see her beautiful eyes open once more: Talk to her.

And so, he does. He reminds Poppy how their journey began, revealing things about himself that only Kieran knows in the process. But it’s anybody’s guess what she’ll wake to or exactly how much of the realm and Cas will have changed when she does.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout revisits Poppy and Casteel’s epic love story in the next installment of the Blood and Ash series. But this time, Hawke gets to tell the tale.

Review:
This is the first time I gave a review six stars but this one warranted this covetted rating because this book wrapped up Poppy’s Ascension into what she truly is but I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t or has started this series/world but though who have understand what I’m talking about by the end of this book, but anyways back to my review… I loved Casteel’s recollections of his and Poppy’s love story along with everything he said in the present day while Poppy was in stasis (inactive if you were wondering what it means) then how some the side charcters popped up from time to time in the present day to keep Casteel informed while he stayed with her as she slept. And sometimes some of the side characters would stay and listen to Casteel’s memories of said past as he talked to Poppy. And during the ending I was consistingly flipping the pages and being caught up in the action and learning something new about Cas that I couldn’t believe was a part of him all this time. And when Poppy awoke I knew she would (you have to read to find out what I mean). So overall, I enjoyed the new tidbits within the story that we didn’t know Cas just added that wasn’t in Poppy’s book (From Blood and Ash). And lastly, to Jennifer L. Armentrout, I want to say thank you for giving us this world with Poppy, Casteel and their friends because these characters will not be forgotten by me in the least and I may have to do a reread at some point because that’s just how much they effected me.

Review: What can I say about the third book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series other than this book broke me and put me back together numerous times especially that scene that other readers know I’m talking about which I won’t spoil for anyone who hasn’t read this series but are planning to in the distant future but all I still loved it for what it was Freye’s and Rhysand’s love and for their love of their family. Highly recommend this series for those who do read it one day. Now on to the novella A Court of Frost and Starlight my loves.

The Only One Left by Riley Sager (non spoiler review)

Date Started: June 27th 2023
Date Finished: July 7th 2023

Characters: Kit & Lenora

Rating: 5 🌟s

Synopsis:

At seventeen, Lenora Hope
Hung her sister with a rope

Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

Stabbed her father with a knife
Took her mother’s happy life

It’s now 1983, and home-health aide Kit McDeere arrives at a decaying Hope’s End to care for Lenora after her previous nurse fled in the middle of the night. In her seventies and confined to a wheelchair, Lenora was rendered mute by a series of strokes and can only communicate with Kit by tapping out sentences on an old typewriter. One night, Lenora uses it to make a tantalizing offer—I want to tell you everything.

“It wasn’t me,” Lenora said
But she’s the only one not dead

As Kit helps Lenora write about the events leading to the Hope family massacre, it becomes clear there’s more to the tale than people know. But when new details about her predecessor’s departure come to light, Kit starts to suspect Lenora might not be telling the complete truth—and that the seemingly harmless woman in her care could be far more dangerous than she first thought.

Review:
Riley Sager has gone and done it again with yet another novel. The only one left had me on the edge of my seat from page one and along the way, I managed to figure out a few things, but it still didn’t take me away from the story as I was predicting some of it though and that’s a good thing because there’s so many twists and turns that didn’t figure out along the way that made it very surprising to me when it was revealed. So if you’re looking for a book that makes you constantly think about who did it or if it was true or not or even if it was messing with your head then you should definitely give this book a try because this is one thriller that I will be thinking of for years to come. So pick it up if you’re intrigued by the storyline as much as I was just from reading the synopsis because you never know you might actually like it as much as I do. So with that I thank you for reading my review of this amazing thriller.
