Review:
Kristy Marie pushed the envelope with this one and I got to say that this is the best one she has written so far even though I am always saying that with every new book of hers that gets released, but this one really is amazing x10 (move over Tim becase Van Gogh just took your spot 🤪). So if you love dark characters especially psycho ones then I highly recommend reading this book. And by the way, I have to say that this is my first 6 star read of 2024 so far, hopefully by the end of the year this will still be one of my favorite books of the year.

Know More About This Book:

Synopsis:

I knew him only as Van Gogh.
A tortured artist who owned the night as he moved through the shadows, cloaked in hate and madness.
He was a vicious vigilante—a serial arsonist who thrived on the fear he triggered with a single match between his tattooed knuckles.
We were told to lock our doors and stay inside.
I wanted to. I really did.
But then I saw his eyes, burning like embers as he watched me through the smoke.
And like the flames at his feet, I delighted in his attention.
I became his muse.
His passion.
His obsession.
His perfectly flawed flower.
But that was years ago.
Before my seaside town became his canvas…
Before the ashes of my enemies became his paint…
Before he hated me… and made me his wife.

The Only One Left by Riley Sager (non spoiler review)

Date Started: June 27th 2023
Date Finished: July 7th 2023

Characters: Kit & Lenora

Rating: 5 🌟s

Synopsis:

At seventeen, Lenora Hope
Hung her sister with a rope

Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

Stabbed her father with a knife
Took her mother’s happy life

It’s now 1983, and home-health aide Kit McDeere arrives at a decaying Hope’s End to care for Lenora after her previous nurse fled in the middle of the night. In her seventies and confined to a wheelchair, Lenora was rendered mute by a series of strokes and can only communicate with Kit by tapping out sentences on an old typewriter. One night, Lenora uses it to make a tantalizing offer—I want to tell you everything.

“It wasn’t me,” Lenora said
But she’s the only one not dead

As Kit helps Lenora write about the events leading to the Hope family massacre, it becomes clear there’s more to the tale than people know. But when new details about her predecessor’s departure come to light, Kit starts to suspect Lenora might not be telling the complete truth—and that the seemingly harmless woman in her care could be far more dangerous than she first thought.

Review:
Riley Sager has gone and done it again with yet another novel. The only one left had me on the edge of my seat from page one and along the way, I managed to figure out a few things, but it still didn’t take me away from the story as I was predicting some of it though and that’s a good thing because there’s so many twists and turns that didn’t figure out along the way that made it very surprising to me when it was revealed. So if you’re looking for a book that makes you constantly think about who did it or if it was true or not or even if it was messing with your head then you should definitely give this book a try because this is one thriller that I will be thinking of for years to come. So pick it up if you’re intrigued by the storyline as much as I was just from reading the synopsis because you never know you might actually like it as much as I do. So with that I thank you for reading my review of this amazing thriller.
